Electric vehicles are becoming mainstream, despite talk of the faltering. Indeed, at 10% of new car sales in the US, and up to a whopping 82% of sales in Norway, it’s clear that there’s real global momentum away from internal combustion cars.
One of the main downfalls of EVs so far, however, has been charging, and lackluster charging networks.
Often charging stations have reliability issues, and they aren’t located in dense enough urban environments. Or when they are, the stalls are all utilized, and customers need to wait.
That has started to change and improve. But more needs to be done.
Urban charging needs to improve too, which makes us excited for companies like Voltpost, who are entering the market with an urban lamp post charger setup.

Their simple and sleek setup aims to bring EV charging to busy, congested urban areas. Positioned on curbsides, drivers can easily park alongside and charge up, without needing to drive to a special charging station.
This is nothing new, with Europe and Asia having similar setups for years.
But in North America, curbside charging is nearly nonexistent.

Voltpost claims their setups can be installed on an existing lamppost in an hour or less, which sounds almost too good to be true. Their sleek setup and companion app makes paying for a charge a breeze, too.
We hope curbside charging becomes as commonplace as curbside recycling, which would alleviate a lot of concern around where people need to charge their cars.
