Ahh, the promise of sun-drenched beaches, blue, crystal-clear waters and delicious meals attract millions of tourists to the Mediterranean region each year. But besides idyllic landscapes, each visitor expects top-notch comfort from their vacay.
This is why villa rentals in Corfu, Canary Islands, Corsica, Cyprus and other islands are on the rise. So, the question arises: how do you spot the perfect villa when booking online?
Here’s our list of Top 4 items to look for if you want to guarantee a smooth and stress-free experience during your stay.
Transparent Pricing
Price transparency is one of the most important things to consider when booking any holiday. Hidden fees or unclear costs can turn a long-planned vacation sour.
Before you’re ready to commit, understand the complete pricing structure, price per night and any additional charges that could be applied. The latter include cleaning services, transportation or deposits.
Some properties charge for additional amenities like Wi-Fi, parking, late check-out, etc.
If the prices are displayed, you can adequately plan ahead. A great example is the Amberton Hotels Green Villas in Corfu. You can look at each villa description and see a price per night.
Clear Instructions for Check-in and Check-out
This includes two things:
Clearly listed check-in and check-out times
Clearly listed addresses and instructions for getting to the property
Most tourists arrive on Mediterranean islands or regions by plane. This means luggage, lack of personal transport and the need to adapt to entirely new surroundings. Stress is guaranteed. The last thing you want is confusion about how to access your accommodation.
Look for booking details before you get on the plane. Understand whether someone will meet you or if the property offers self-check-in, etc.
Some properties may have different check-in and check-out procedures depending on the time of day or week, so confirming this information beforehand is essential. If there is a lack of information, proactively ask the manager/customer support for instructions after booking the villa.
Proximity to the Beach or Pool
Most of us visit the Mediterranean to be near the beach or have our pool. This is why it’s a must to check the pictures and descriptions as well as the map location of the villa. You deserve to know whether there’s beach access or a pool on the premises or how long you must walk/drive to get to them.
It’s our suggestion always to prioritise a villa near the beach and(or) one that has its own pool.
Complete List of Amenities
When booking a large property, you deserve to know the exact extent of what you’re paying for. So, knowing what amenities are available at your Cypriot, Maltese, Corfu or other villa can make all the difference in any holiday experience.
Be sure to check for a full list of amenities before finalising your booking. Everyone wants A/C and Wi-Fi, but what about cribs for children, pet-friendly properties, infinity pools, chefs and car service, ocean views, and a private garden?
If you have a list, it helps you decide.
