Some movie houses are just backdrops, but others become stars in their own right.

The Home Alone house at 671 Lincoln Ave in Winnetka, IL, is definitely the latter.

Known as Kevin McCallister’s booby-trapped fortress against the Wet Bandits, it’s as much a character as anyone in the movie.

The exterior of this brick Georgian style residence still looks almost identical to its on-screen days, but in 2018 the interior got a major upgrade.

They kept the iconic sled-friendly staircase and formal living and dining rooms, but modernized the rest with an open kitchen, a sunny family room, a basement with a basketball court and theater, and even a stylish attic bedroom where the “scary” scenes took place.

With 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, the home is over 9,000 square feet.

It’s currently on the market at $5,250,000. With a sale possibly in the works—nostalgia and modern living wrapped into one iconic package.

If you absolutely must have this house but don’t have the budget, there’s an amazing LEGO version of it for $300.
