The Red Eyed Tree frog, technically known as Agalychnis callidrya, is a strange and charismatic fellow.
It’s one of the most photogenic animals we can imagine, with radiant greens and reds, and a bright blue belly.

Native to Central America, from Mexico to Colombia, this small frog has captured the imagination of many due to its striking appearance and fascinating behavior.

Its most notable feature, the bright red eyes, serve as a defense mechanism to startle predators.
When resting, its green skin blends seamlessly with the leaves, providing excellent camouflage.

These nocturnal creatures thrive in humid, tropical rainforests where they can be found on the underside of leaves, close to water bodies that their offspring will need for development.

Although currently not considered endangered, the red-eyed tree frog faces threats from habitat loss due to deforestation and the illegal pet trade.
Their dependence on pristine rainforest ecosystems makes them vulnerable to the effects of habitat destruction and climate change.
