A massive solar storm is brewing on our sun, bringing the highest-level geomagnetic activity in Earth’s atmosphere since 2003.

Massive solar flares coming off of the Sun over the past week.

The result? Incredible, intense Aurora Borealis, which are being seen as far south as Denmark, Germany, and even Florida and Southern California in the United States.

These storms will make more amazing aurora over the next few days, make sure to see them if the skies near you are clear at night.

“The current solar storm is caused by a cluster of sunspots — dark, cool regions on the solar surface. The cluster is flaring and ejecting material every six to 12 hours.

Earlier Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued a rare warning about the solar outburst, because it could disrupt communications and even power grids.”
