In Poznań, Poland, a walkway has turned into something vibrant and magical.

COLOR PATH (Ścieżka Koloru), a temporary installation by Polish artist Adam Kalinowski, spreads 17 tons of bright, crushed aggregates across a 27-meter stretch of pavement, inviting people to walk across it barefoot if they dare.

This is not a sculpture that sits still. Each step nudges the colors into new patterns. The ground beneath you becomes a shifting painting, alive with the rhythm of feet and chance.

Kalinowski’s idea celebrates the messiness of life. It finds beauty in the shuffle, the constant change of things never quite staying the same.

‘COLOR PATH’ is designed to be fully interactive, inviting the public to walk through it, preferably barefoot. This direct engagement allows visitors to become active participants and co-creators of the artwork. The movement of people through the vibrant, granular material continually alters the installation’s form, creating an ever-changing landscape of color and texture. -Adam Kalinowski

For six weeks, from September 12 to October 26, 2025, Color Path transforms a slice of the city into a giant shared canvas. It is part artwork, part playground, part meditation on impermanence.

If you happen to be in Poznań this fall, kick off your shoes. The colors are already waiting to be moved.
