We’re taken by the strange yet gorgeous sculptural creatures that make up Spencer Hansen’s collection, entitled Tethered Worlds.

The sculptures feel like stepping into a place where time folds in on itself. His sculptures carry a distinctly tribal energy, as if they were unearthed from an old ritual site, yet they also look strangely futuristic, like relics from a civilization we haven’t met yet.

The ridged designs and repeated patterns have a lovely tactile nature, and range from six inches, to several feet tall.

Hansen resides in Bali, and has a truly impressive collection. See more on his website.

We love the ridged nature of the designs, and repeated patterns.

Hansen’s characters have a tribal and often alien look and feel.

“His sculptures carry a distinctly tribal energy, as if they were unearthed from an old ritual site, yet they also look strangely futuristic, like relics from a civilization we haven’t met yet.

All entirely hand formed, sculptures are weeks or even months in the making.

Using wood, steel, bone, ceramic and even fur, the forms have a timeless quality.

This four armed character is charming to behold.

This alien skeleton fellow is a bit less charming, but equally fascinating.

The repeated ridges and gold aesthetic makes these figures highly covetable.
