Defined as the Migiui Neighborhood Facility, this impressive, sprawling complex in South Korea’s Yeongnam Alps.
Architect Lee Kichul has created a weaving and organically flowing design that feels at home in its environment, and welcoming and accessible to its surrounding residents.
A large growing roof also welcomes visitors, with pathways and places of reflection.
With an exterior that curves and swoops, the landscaping complements it beautifully, and extensive indoor and outdoor planting blurs the line between interior and exterior.
The entire space features curving, floor-to-ceiling glass, which brings in tons of natural light, and makes the overall feel warm and intuitive.
Atriums bring the outdoors in and encourage growth.
Large circular atriums create greenhouse-like spaces in the building, and reinforce the idea of nature as the overall theme.
As evening arrives, the space comes alive with sleekly integrated lighting, and the building’s overall shape is accentuated with recessed ribbons of light.
