What if the familiar landmark you knew so well was located on an entirely alien landscape? Would the landmark itself feel the same?

That’s the idea behind Anton Repponen’s series Misplaced. We’ve shared his New York chapter of the series before, and here, we see landmarks and famous buildings from around the world that are decisively out of place.

From the Duomo in Milan to the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church in Reykjavík, each landmark has been placed into a foreign and often alien-feeling landscape. It not only removes the cultural context of the buildings, but makes you interpret them in new ways.

See more of Repponen’s expansive, impressive portfolio on his website, which showcases everything from industrial design to fine art.
