It’s Monday, August 25.

Your luxury spaceship has landed.

File this under: space age luxury.

Rising from the turquoise waters of the Red Sea, Shebara Resort looks like something out of the future.

Designed by Killa Design for Red Sea Global, the resort is a striking mix of mirror-polished architecture and deep sustainability.

Located 25 kilometers off Saudi Arabia’s western coast, Shebara is made up of 73 villas.

38 are floating overwater and 35 are located along the beach, and the property has a dramatic Royal Villa.

What on Earth? Or maybe a different planet altogether.

Imagine flowers from an alternate universe, and you’ll begin to grasp the wild, otherworldly creations of Ondrej Zunka.

Designed as an encyclopedia of strange blooms, his fantastical plant life twists, swoops, and converges in ways that defy nature as we know it—offering a glimpse into a beautifully surreal world.

This bizarre one is entitled Connexa-Chamaemilla.

This hair-like flower is called Vomitus Flos.

That sky…

In this era of digital photography and post-production, it’s far too easy for people to create collage photography that isn’t real. Indeed, there are examples of it that are lovely, and we’ve shared somein the past.

But nothing beats the authenticity of true, captured-in-camera images. And the nighttime imagery of Marcin Zając is among the very best we’ve ever seen.

Indeed, the Bay Area-based photographer has been nominated for Astronomer Photographer of the Year, a great tribute to his keen eye.

The meal that fights back.

Photographer Marcos Rodriguez witnessed and photographed a wild, 20-minute battle between a large heron and the snake that was going to be its meal.

In the dramatic images, we see the way the snake wrapped itself around its attacker. Captured in the Orlando Wetlands, this blue heron takes on a very defensive banded water snake, which refuses to give up easily.

It happened by chance as I was making my way out, as I happened to notice from the corner of my eye the exact moment when the great blue heron snatched the banded water snake from the marsh”

Nature fact of the day

The Amazon rainforest creates its own rain.

Through a process called evapotranspiration, trees release enormous amounts of water vapor from their leaves, so much that the Amazon generates up to half of its own rainfall.

In fact, a single large tree can release hundreds of gallons of water into the atmosphere each day, helping to seed clouds and sustain the entire ecosystem.

It’s one of the most remarkable examples of nature being self-sustaining on a massive scale. 🌿🌧️
