For many of us in the early 90s, the Nintendo Gameboy was the ultimate portable game machine, and its iconic grey blocky form became an overnight sensation.

LEGO is bringing that original nostalgia back with a 1:1 scale buildable Gameboy, and they’ve nailed the form factor to a T.

The 421-piece set includes buildable Game Paks that slot into the device.

With the same form factor, button color and black and white ‘screen’, this is an excellent brick replica of the original Gameboy.

Lest you think this is a fully playable video game system, LEGO reminds you that this is purely battery-free, instead offering charming lenticular screens that you can swap out, giving the illusion of a working device.

The black and white lenticular screen inserts give rudimentary motion to the screen, completing the vintage vibe, while remaining entirely non-playable.

This seems like the perfect gift for video game fans and lovers of 80s and 90s nostalgia.

Complete with a stand to show off the Gameboy, the set is available for pre-order for $59. Ships in October.
