Cj Hendry Takes on Balloon Art with a Wink and a Twist

A large gallery space positively bursting with oversized balloon forms.

This spring in Brooklyn, acclaimed artist Cj Hendry unveils Keff Joons, a playful nod to Jeff Koons’ iconic balloon animals.

Known for her cheeky wit and immersive shows, Hendry reimagines the humble balloon to toy with our sense of space, volume, and perception.

For the show, expect interaction, exploration, and plenty of visual trickery — all with her signature flair.

Below are some images from the show opening, which looked like a blast to explore.

Exhibition Details:
April 11 - 20, 2025  (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
50 Gold St, Brooklyn (Dumbo)

Oversized balloon shapes fill the space, and visitors are encouraged to climb and explore.

The artist makes an obvious nod to Jeff Koons and his famous balloon dog, but takes it to a silly, abstracted place.

“Balloons are so simple, yet they carry this enormous emotional weight—joy, nostalgia, fragility. I love that they float so effortlessly, but at any moment, they can pop.

Keff Joons is my tongue-in-cheek nod at that balance between lightness and impermanence through the lens of Jeff Koons’ incredible balloon sculptures.

While Jeff has transformed the balloon animal into an icon of art, I’ve cobbled together these balloon “knots” that forgo structure and form and are totally ridiculous. I’m leaving the real art to the professionals!” – Cj Hendry
