There’s a charming nostalgic innocence about movies from the 1950s. This era of cinema included grand, soaring soundtracks and dramatic voiceover that fit a certain straight-laced vibe.

Abandoned Films is a Youtube channel that reimagines popular movie trailers in this vintage aesthetic, referring to them as ‘Super Panavision 70‘, a reference to the then-new color film and marketing jargon movie studios used.

In their trailers, they use AI to generate not just the visuals, but the voiceover talent as well, creating an entirely fictional, yet impressive result.

We were struck by their take on Jurassic Park, which trades realistic dinosaurs for the kind used in early cinema, highly simplistic and toy-like. The characters in the movie use the same names as the original, but trade out for 50s era paleontologists, complete with fashion from that time.

It’s best to just suspend disbelief and go along with it.
