A modern standout artists is Isabel Ricaurte, an inspirational artist known for her impeccable ability to tell stories through images. With a natural curiosity for the world around her (especially in TV and local statues), Isabel quickly developed a natural talent in the art world.

Isabel grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in a family with few artists. Her parents always encouraged Isabel to follow her dream and became a good example of how this could be achieved.

As she grew, she pursued several local art classes in her hometown, which taught her various techniques, from classical to cartooning. She soon landed a spot at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration in 2020.

After graduating, Isabel quickly made an impact on the art scene. She first focused on underground comics, where she excelled as a cover artist and character designer. This experience helped her strengthen her ability to convey complex characters and emotions through visual means. She also developed her skills in narrative art, which set the stage for more diverse opportunities in her future.

Beyond the comic book industry, Isabel took on roles that further pushed her creative boundaries. She took a job as a background designer for Hype Club Music Label in California, where her designs contributed to storytelling. During this time, she collaborated with filmmaker Anthony Gallejo, a background artist for the short film “Urie.” Her work in this role demonstrated her ability to adapt and innovate in various media formats.

Her ability to blend artistic flair with commercial appeal was also highly evident in her storyboards for social media commercials, which she created in collaboration with Plex Publicidad, a major advertising company in Columbia. Through this collaboration, she was able to visually translate marketing concepts into engaging narratives, helping brands tell the stories they love.

Since starting her career, Isabel has seen her illustrations featured in the Mexican magazine “Revista Vivienda Infonavit,” which allowed her work to make an even greater impact across demographics. She also gained international acclaim as a finalist in the JOAH Beauty Art Contest in 2023, which drew entries from talented artists across the globe. Her exhibition at “The Holy Art Gallery” in London in 2024 was another significant milestone, placing her work on an international stage and further putting her work within reach of the global art community.

Besides her professional achievements, Isabel has been highly active in community events and educational workshops. For several years, she participated as an official art vendor at the “Colored Colors” event in Hudson Yards, New York. Vending here allowed her to showcase her work to a more diverse audience, gaining fans. She is working hard to pursue her dream of becoming a recognized book and character designer.

In the future, Isabel is highly focused on growing her career. She primarily dreams of creating her own stories to engage readers from all over the world. Her unique way of turning ideas into visual stories demonstrates her deep understanding of space and detail, helping her craft images that accurately represent her ideas. Her work accurately depicts how she views and interacts with the world.

As an artist, Isabel’s work goes beyond traditional illustration and design. Her entire journey from Guayaquil to NYC and beyond has inspired her own work and the work of others. She continues to forge her path and use her art to illustrate her creativity and commitment to the visual arts.
