From delightfully wacky seat designs to iridescent neon window tint, it’s clear the designers and engineers at Hyundai had a field day with this concept car.

Unveiled this week at the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show in Munich, Concept Three is the brand’s idea of a small, fun urban EV with an abundance of character.
Designed specifically for Europe’s smaller roads, the Concept Three has a sporty stance, and a rally-style feel that makes it look fast even when sitting still.

The first compact car in Hyundai’s Ioniq lineup, the concept is overflowing with funky design details, including a cartoon character called Mr. Pix, who shows up in both digital and physical places throughout the car.

We admire the use of vibrant and funky materials, which show up in both the interior upholstery, and also places like the digital side mirrors, which almost look like miniature Death Stars.

The Ioniq sub brand has made the use of ‘pixels’ a major design theme, and we see them continued here, with a fully animated grill area that features their irreverent pixel character.

The car embraces a bit of mischief, even using the words “Troublemaker” and “Thrillseeker” throughout the cabin.

The use of neon green is used extensively in the tinted glass, as well as the wheel designs, and upholstery, bringing a funky feel to this sleek little car.

Inside, the interior features funky green seats that almost defy description, with bolsters that look like they’re from a spaceship of the future.

Small, modular display screens replace the ever-growing car displays of recent times, and feel like a modern interpretation of a video game interface.

While clearly still a concept, Head of Design Simon Loasby told journalists that this vehicle is about 80% of the way toward production, signaling the brand’s intent to produce most of this clever kit.

Use of sustainable and innovative materials like aluminum foam are seen within the door panels, showcasing the commitment to lightweight yet strong builds.

The pixels continue in the steering column, with a wheel more akin to an oval than a traditional circle.

While no technical specs were offered, we can imagine the car will feature next-generation EV batteries and a range to match.

We’re enamored with the sheer fun and boldness of the Concept 3, and what it holds for the brand’s future.
