In the world of Major League Baseball, the Oakland Athletics will be moving to Las Vegas, in a new stadium that’s been dubbed ‘the spherical armadillo’.
Designed by Danish firm BIG Architects, the massive new stadium will accommodate over 33,000 people, and feature the largest cable-net glass wall in the world.

Informed by the triage shape of baseball pennant flags and the tough armor of the armadillo, the soaring stadium’s panels overlap to create an environment that is suitable for the hot, dry desert of Las Vegas.
Through use of passive shading and natural light, the stadium aims to be environmentally friendly, while also helping define the city’s build landscape.
The stadium plans to open for the 2028 MLB season.
