Mushrooms never cease to amaze us, and it seems we’re learning new things about them everyday. Medically, scientifically, and even creatively.

YouTube maker In the Cottage Garden shows us ways in which you can even grow mushrooms from the pages of a book.

In it, she soaks a book (about mushrooms, no less) in boiling water, and then sprinkles oyster mushroom spawn inside.

After sealing the book in a bag and putting in a dark box for a few weeks, the mycelium have colonized the book, and soon, mushrooms bloom from the pages.

Take a look at the video below, and learn how to grow them yourself!

It’s quite easy to coax mushrooms to grow from the pages of a book.

Within weeks, healthy Oyster mushrooms bloom.

Pouring boiling water over the book ensures its sanitized and clean.
