The iconic Binoculars Building in Venice Beach, California, a hallmark of postmodern architecture designed by Frank Gehry in collaboration with artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, has been listed for sale.

This 78,000-square-foot office space, renowned for its striking 44-foot-tall binoculars that serve as both an artistic centerpiece and functional entrance, is being offered by CBRE on behalf of real estate investment trust W.P. Carey, which acquired the property approximately 30 years ago for around $18 million.

Since 2011, the building has been leased by Google, with the current lease extending until October 2030.
This sale presents a highly unique opportunity to own a piece of architectural history that blends art and functionality, embodying Gehry’s distinctive approach to design.
While it’s looking weathered and the postmodern style has questionable aesthetics, there is something charming about such an off-the-wall design idea.
