Delightfully Spooky Halloween Cinemagraphs

We explore lovely and slightly spooky moments from the queen of cinema graphs, Daria Khoroshavina.

In honor of Halloween, we present some subtle yet beautifully elegant cinemagraphs from artist and photographer Daria Khoroshavina.

Her work has a great sense of time and mood, and she captures a spooky sensibility in this series. The floating objects give a ghostly presence, while the set pieces harken back to a purer, more magical time. Full of delicious looking treats, no less. Happy Halloween.

Heidi Klum Wins Halloween Again, This Time By Transforming Herself Into a Giant Worm

Revisiting the amazingly realistic and wild worm costume from 2022.

Heidi Klum, the German American supermodel, is known for making a splash with her over-the-top Halloween costumes. In true originality fashion, she eschews ‘sexy versions’ of costumes, and goes for something truly unique and unexpected.

In years past she’s shown up to events (or her own parties) as Fiona from Shrek, a gigantic butterfly, a wildly-realistic version of herself as an elderly woman, and even Michael Jackson from Thriller. Vogue UK has a great collection of her past costumes, going back twenty years.

Pumpkin Spice is Simply Everywhere

We explore the over-saturation of pumpkin spice flavor, and what the future holds.

Businesses are capitalizing on this craze in ways that would make Scrooge McDuck blush. Pumpkin spice cereals, cookies, candles, hard seltzer, and even dog treats (because Jasper deserves seasonal snacking too) have flooded the market. It’s the capitalist dream, with pumpkin spice as the capitalist mascot.

Broomstick Adventures by Halno Kujiraoka

Japanese Instagram artist and photographer Halno Kujiraoka has a fun and inspiring series of his travels, all taken aboard a broomstick, floating in midair. It’s a clever and endearing concept, and his dedicated (and prolific!) series takes us all over the world.

The dedication to this series is especially impressive, and the creative take on his setting makes the images all the more fun.

Nature Fact of the Day

Nature’s real life zombies.

Zombieism in nature is a real phenomenon, as some parasitic fungi can take control of an ant's body, forcing it to climb to a strategic location before killing it to reproduce.

While not a zombie in the human sense, the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus is a fascinating and creepy example of nature's own version of reanimation.
