Flowers are known for their soft nature, their ability to blow in the breeze. What if that soft quality could be altered? Photographer Jon Shireman does just that with his series Shattered Flowers.
Taking fresh flowers and dipping them into liquid nitrogen, he instantly freezes them. With a simple smack on a floor, they shatter into thousands of pieces.
From lilies to orchids, we see blooms shattered into pieces, giving us a surreal, dramatic take on familiar blooms.
