Floating along the winding waterways of Peru’s lush jungle, the Pure Amazon is a beautifully designed riverboat offering travelers an intimate and immersive window into the rainforest.

Launched by Abercrombie and Kent, the vessel carries just twenty two people through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, one of the most biodiverse regions of the Amazon Basin.

The experience blends expedition level adventure with thoughtful design and a deep respect for the surrounding environment.

Designed by architect Adriana Granato of Studio Ibsen, Pure Amazon feels like a floating boutique lodge, where natural textures, soft lighting, and expansive windows echo the rhythms of the jungle.

With a maximum of just 14 guests, you can ensured a tranquil, and personalized experience.

Every suite faces the river, allowing guests to wake up to drifting mist and the layered sounds of the rainforest.

The interiors use locally inspired materials and handcrafted details that bring the character of the Amazon on board without overwhelming the sense of calm.

With a one to one staff ratio, the atmosphere is personal, warm, and quietly luxurious.

The use of natural materials, and this tree structure inside immediately grounds you to your surroundings.

Days unfold through a mix of exploration and peaceful observation. The journey begins near Iquitos before the ship travels deep into the reserve.

During the low water season from June to November, the river reveals hidden tributaries and sandbars where rare birds and mammals appear in the open.

In the high water months from December to May, the forest transforms into an otherworldly flooded ecosystem, with tree canopies reflected in wide mirrorlike pools.

Guests venture out in skiffs to spot pink river dolphins, macaws, sloths, caimans, and countless other species, or walk along jungle paths guided by naturalists who understand the ecological intricacy of the region.

Cultural connection is woven thoughtfully into the itinerary. Abercrombie and Kent partners with Indigenous Amazonian communities and local NGOs to help support sustainable livelihoods, including honey production and traditional craftwork.

This level of care for the environment and luxury doesn’t come cheap, we might add. The ten day journey starts at $17,995 per person, which includes airfare within Peru.
