Jean Mallard paints like he’s mapping a memory.

His gouache worlds feel lush, hushed, and slightly unreal, with glowing landscapes, soft architecture, and a quiet sense of wonder.

Born in Paris in 1997, Mallard studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and now creates scenes that blend illustration, painting, and dream logic. He works slowly, layering color to build depth, atmosphere, and light.

His influences range from Hayao Miyazaki and Moebius to Russian painting, Indian miniatures, and Henri Rousseau. The result is work that feels both refined and escapist. Full of mist, foliage, and far-off places you want to step into.
