We’re suckers for good lighting, cool magnets, and a great record player. So what happens when you combine all three?
Something very, very cool, and also very very expensive.
The limited edition, Audio Technica Hotaru record player has a fascinating design that uses magnetic repulsion to float the player’s plinth, allowing for vibration-free playback.
In addition, the player has dynamic color-changing lighting that can react to the music, giving a highly dynamic playback experience.
This highly refined, highly engineered player is limited to 1,000 units worldwide, and is available for pre-order for $10,000.

We named this new turntable after the firefly because it illuminates the air with a similar magical glow, inviting listeners to soak up the fleeting experience.
Also, as a Japanese audio manufacturer, we chose the “Hotaru” name to reflect the influence that the firefly has had on Japan’s art and culture.

Utilizing 20 different color palettes, the lighting system reacts and harmonizes
with the music, creating a truly immersive experience of both sight and sound
