Famed artist Ai Weiwei is known for his large-scale, often provocative artwork, spanning all numbers of mediums.
We can now add LEGO to that list of mediums, with Weiwei’s latest installation. Spanning 50 feet, the enormous wall-art is a recreation of Claude Monet’s famed Water Lilies, but instead of paint, hundreds of thousands of LEGO pieces. Over 650,000 pieces, creating a beautifully pixelated version of the paint strokes that are familiar to any fan of Monet.
Entitled Water Lilies #1, the enormous artwork is part of a larger series called Ai Weiwei: Making Sense that opens to the public at the Design Museum in London on April 5.
