We weren’t aware of the longstanding baguette war that France and Italy were engaged in. But in the latest development, France takes the crown as the record holder of the world’s longest baguette.

Baked in Suresnes in the suburbs of Paris, the single baguette was an astonishing 140.53 meters, or 461 feet long.

235 times longer than the normal baguette, the baguette beats the Italian record, which was 132 meters, baked in the city of Como back in 2019.

We love how many bakers were involved in this effort, and especially the image of the inspector, very officially going through her clipboard to verify the baguette’s length.

A specially-built oven on wheels was created to bake the enormous loaf, and it was promptly cut and shared with the public.

Your move, Italy.
